James Hardie™ Interior Linings
Non-Combustible Performance Behind the Paint
Interior Lining Products
Versilux™ Lining
The versatile performer of the James Hardie™ interior range. A smooth, pre-primed fibre cement lining sheet for residential and commercial walls and ceilings, designed to accept paint directly without additional priming.
Hardie™ Groove Lining
A V-grooved interior feature panel that brings genuine texture and rhythm to wall and ceiling surfaces. The groove spacing creates a horizontal or vertical shadow-line pattern across the lining, a simple, effective way to add material interest to an interior without applied finishes or decorative cladding systems.
Axon™ Cladding - Interior Application
Axon™ is primarily an exterior product, but its deep-grooved vertical profile translates directly to interior feature wall applications, bringing the same contemporary shadow-line aesthetic from the facade into internal living spaces, corridors, stairwells and commercial interiors.
Why Choose Fibre Cement Over Plasterboard for Interior Linings?
Moisture-prone environments
Plasterboard softens and deteriorates with sustained moisture exposure. Fibre cement doesn't. In areas with indirect water exposure, walls adjacent to wet areas, exterior-facing internal walls, and unheated spaces, fibre cement maintains structural integrity and surface quality where plasterboard fails.
Fire performance requirements
Fibre cement is non-combustible; it doesn't contribute to fire spread and maintains structural integrity longer under fire conditions than plasterboard. In locations where a non-combustible lining is specified or preferred, James Hardie™ interior products satisfy the requirement outright.
High-traffic and impact-prone locations
Commercial corridors, residential entry halls, stairwells, plant rooms and any location with regular impact exposure benefit from fibre cement's superior hardness compared to gypsum board. It doesn't dent, doesn't crack from light impacts and doesn't require the level of surface repair that plasterboard needs in high-traffic settings.
Wet area substrates
Villaboard™ is the James Hardie™ wet area lining product, a moisture-resistant fibre cement sheet designed as the substrate for tiled wet area applications. Plasterboard, even moisture-resistant grades, is not appropriate behind tiles in wet areas. Fibre cement is.
