Inspired by the raw, pocked surface of the moon, Lunara is EQUITONE’s most visually distinctive material. The surface is formed through a randomised treatment process, irregular elevations and depressions across the panel face that create a bold, tactile quality unlike anything achievable through conventional cladding systems. And because the treatment is genuinely random, no two panels are identical. You can’t repeat it, even if you tried.
This isn’t texture applied over a base; it’s texture that emerges from the material itself. The result is a facade that rewards close inspection and reads powerfully from a distance, responding dynamically to changes in light, shadow and viewing angle throughout the day.

Surface & Character

A through coloured panel. The surface of the panel is characterised by a randomised textured finish that is unique to EQUITONE [lunara]. The two colour shades accentuate the authenticity of the material.

What Lunara Does to a Building

Most facade materials are designed to disappear, to provide a consistent, controlled surface that doesn’t draw attention to itself. Lunara does the opposite. It’s a material for buildings that are meant to be noticed, that have something to express through their skin.

Genuinely unique panels

The randomised surface treatment produces genuinely non-repeating panels. Across a large facade, this creates a rich, natural variation that uniform cladding systems simply cannot achieve.

Dynamic light response

The irregular surface geometry means different areas of the facade catch and release light at different intensities throughout the day. A Lunara facade is never the same twice.

Through-colour durability

Chips, weathering and edge exposure all reveal the same material character as the face. There is no coating to fail and no substrate colour to expose; the panel performs identically throughout its depth.

Pairs naturally with Tectiva and Lines

Lunara's organic texture creates a powerful contrast against the flat planes of Tectiva or the precise linear geometry of Linea, facade compositions that use Lunara as the expressive element alongside more controlled companions.

Is the surface texture of Lunara consistent from panel to panel?
No, and that’s intentional. The surface treatment process is genuinely randomised, meaning no two Lunara panels are identical. The texture varies in depth, density and pattern across every panel. This is what gives Lunara facades their distinctively organic, natural quality. If you need a consistent, repeating surface pattern, Linea’s ribbed profile is the more appropriate choice in the EQUITONE range.
The fixing methods for Lunara follow standard EQUITONE installation practice: face-fixed, concealed-fixed using the TUF-S system, or mounted on a Nvelope rainscreen subframe. The textured surface does not significantly affect wind or water performance compared to standard EQUITONE panels. Technical installation documentation is available through CSP Architectural.
Lunara is manufactured as a flat panel and is not suitable for bending or curving on site. For curved facade applications, contact our team to discuss alternative EQUITONE products or installation methods.
Like all EQUITONE through-colour products, Lunara weathers by developing a subtle patina rather than deteriorating. The textured surface may accumulate and release natural deposits differently from a flat panel; rainfall tends to wash the more exposed peaks cleanly, while the depressions may develop a slightly darker tone over time. This weathering behaviour is consistent with the material’s natural character and is generally considered an enhancement rather than a defect.
