The castellated, or stepped, cross-section profile creates a more three-dimensional surface than a flat board, projecting further from the wall and casting a stronger, more dramatic shadow line. Manufactured from 100% solid aluminium using sublimation timber-look coating technology, Castellated Cladding delivers everything the V-Join does: non-combustible, virtually maintenance-free, UV-stable, and marine-grade prefinished but with a bolder surface character that suits projects where the cladding itself is intended to be a feature rather than a background.
About the Castellated Profile
‘Castellated’ refers to a stepped or notched profile. In WoodEx®, this means each board has a cross-section that projects at different depths from the substrate, creating alternating ridges and recesses across the cladding surface. Where the V-join creates shadow lines at board joins, Castellated creates them within each individual board; the stepped face catches and releases light along the full length of every board, producing a continuous, dynamic surface quality.
At 160 mm coverage per board, matching the V-Join profile, Castellated Cladding fits the same residential scale as V-Join while delivering a fundamentally different surface expression. The two profiles can be used together on the same project: V-Join as the primary cladding element and Castellated as an accent band or feature panel, or separated by material zone to create compositional variety.
