Timber Warmth, Aluminium Performance, No Upkeep

There’s a strong argument for timber cladding and screening on paper: it looks warm, it feels natural, and it reads well in landscape settings. The argument falls apart when you actually have to maintain it in Australian conditions: UV exposure, moisture cycling, bushfire risk, and the inevitable slow deterioration that no amount of oiling entirely prevents.
WoodEx® resolves the contradiction. These are aluminium profiles with a factory-applied finish that replicates the grain, texture and warmth of natural timber, built on a substrate that’s inherently non-combustible, dimensionally stable and impervious to everything the Australian climate throws at it. The range covers five profiles across cladding, ceiling lining and batten applications.

The WoodEx® Range

WoodEx® V-Join Cladding

A classic V-join horizontal cladding profile with the visual character of traditional timber lining boards, precise shadow lines, consistent profile and a surface that reads as authentically as any timber alternative on the market.

WoodEx® Castellated Cladding

A deeper, more architectural cladding profile with a castellated (stepped) cross-section that creates strong shadow lines and adds three-dimensional depth to the facade. A popular choice on contemporary commercial and residential buildings where the cladding itself is a feature element.

WoodEx® Ceiling Lining

Timber-look aluminium for external soffits, covered walkways and pergola ceilings. Brings the warmth of natural timber overhead in exposed locations where actual timber would require constant maintenance or fail prematurely in wet conditions.

WoodEx® Clip-On Battens

Aluminium battens with a timber-look finish for screening, feature walls and facade articulation. Clip-on fixing makes installation fast and allows individual battens to be replaced without disturbing the surrounding elements.

WoodEx® Lightweight Clip-On Battens

A lighter-weight version of the clip-on batten, ideal for applications where reduced panel loading is a consideration, such as suspended ceiling systems, lightweight screening or feature screens over internal glazing.

Where WoodEx® Works

Residential facades

Achieves the coastal or bushland timber aesthetic without the maintenance, fire risk or long-term deterioration.

Commercial cladding

Adds material warmth to commercial buildings, retail, hospitality, and mixed-use in a system that performs over decades.

External soffits & ceilings

The WoodEx® Ceiling Lining profile handles conditions that quickly destroy real timber, exposed moisture, UV and temperature cycling.

Screens & pergolas

Batten profiles create privacy screens, decorative facades and pergola frames with a natural character that holds up over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is WoodEx® actually non-combustible?
Yes. WoodEx® profiles are aluminium extrusions with a factory-applied surface coating; there is no timber content or thermoplastic material in the product. This makes them non-combustible and suitable for use in bushfire-prone areas and on buildings where the NCC requires non-combustible external wall cladding.
No. The timber-look finish on WoodEx® profiles is factory-applied and UV-stable; it doesn’t require oiling, sealing, sanding or repainting. Occasional wash-down with water and mild detergent is all that’s needed to keep the surface looking its best.
Yes. The WoodEx® Ceiling Lining profile is specifically designed for external soffit and covered ceiling applications where moisture and UV exposure make natural timber impractical. The aluminium substrate handles these conditions without the deterioration that affects timber in similar environments.
