About the V-Join Profile
The V-join profile takes its name from the narrow V-shaped groove that runs along the join between adjacent boards, a detail that creates a precise, repeating shadow line across the facade surface. In traditional timber cladding, this groove is formed by the shaped edges of two lapping boards meeting at an angle. In WoodEx® V-Join, it’s formed by the aluminium profile system, consistent, repeatable and dimensionally precise in a way that natural timber never quite is.
The result is a cladding system that achieves the horizontal rhythm architects and designers are after, with a surface that looks like carefully selected, consistent timber grain. At 160 mm coverage per board, the profile reads at a residential scale, wide enough to have presence and narrow enough to create the layered quality that gives horizontal cladding its visual interest.

What coverage width does WoodEx® V-Join Cladding provide?
Each WoodEx® V-Join board provides 160mm of wall coverage. The V-join profile detail appears at the join between adjacent boards, creating a consistent shadow line at 160mm intervals across the wall surface. The profile system uses a concealed clip fixing, so the face of each board is uninterrupted by visible fixings.
Is WoodEx® V-Join Cladding non-combustible?
Yes. WoodEx® is manufactured from 100% solid aluminium; there is no timber content, no thermoplastic material and no combustible component. The product is tested to AS1530.1 and AS1530.3 and is classified as non-combustible under the BCA. This makes it suitable for facades in bushfire attack level (BAL)-rated zones and on buildings where the NCC requires non-combustible external wall cladding.
How is WoodEx® V-Join Cladding installed?
WoodEx® V-Join uses a concealed clip system; the fixing clips are installed to the substrate, and the boards clip over them, leaving the face of the cladding completely uninterrupted by visible screws or fixings. This is one of the installation advantages over real timber cladding, where secret-nailing is possible but more time-consuming and difficult to achieve consistently. Proprietary trim profiles are available to complete corners, reveals and terminations cleanly.
Does the timber finish fade over time?
The sublimation coating technology used on WoodEx® is UV stable and is specifically formulated for exterior use in Australian conditions. The marine-grade prefinish provides an additional layer of UV and moisture protection. Unlike natural timber, which weathers, silvers, fades and requires periodic recoating to maintain its appearance, WoodEx® maintains its timber-look finish without any treatment or maintenance.
Can WoodEx® V-Join be used for internal feature walls as well as external facades?
Yes. WoodEx® V-Join is suitable for both external and internal applications. On internal feature walls, the product provides the same warm timber aesthetic without any of the off-gassing or moisture management considerations that can affect real timber in enclosed interior spaces. The aluminium substrate also means the cladding won’t expand or contract with changes in indoor humidity.
