What makes Tectiva different from a standard painted fibre cement panel?
Tectiva is through-coloured; the grey tones and texture run through the full depth of the fibre cement, not just across the surface. A painted or coated panel has a substrate colour underneath the coating, which becomes visible at cut edges, fixing holes and areas of surface wear. With Tectiva, what you see at the surface is what exists throughout the panel; cut edges, corners and weathered areas all show the same material character.
Does Tectiva require sealing or surface treatment?
No, Tectiva has a natural, uncoated fibre cement surface that requires no sealing, painting or surface treatment. The surface does absorb moisture when wet and releases it as it dries; this is a normal characteristic of uncoated fibre cement and does not affect the structural integrity or long-term performance of the panel. The surface will develop a subtle patina as it weathers, which most designers regard as an enhancement of the material’s character rather than a maintenance issue.
Can Tectiva be used with visible fixings?
Yes, and this is one of its genuine advantages. Because the colour runs through the full panel depth, fixing holes and cut edges don’t reveal a grey substrate behind a coloured surface coating. Visible fixing becomes a design detail rather than a concession. Tectiva can also be installed with concealed-fix systems for a completely flush panel face if that’s what the design requires.
